We are looking for dynamic community members who have experience starting up their own business, working for a startup business, and/or a general understanding of business. There are varying levels of time commitments and involvement, including coaches, who work with the teacher to present a lesson over the course of a few class periods, to mentors, who work with students weekly via in person meetings, email, phone, etc. to help mold and shape their idea.
COACH Coaches are subject matter experts who present with the classroom teacher to help deliver a lesson. Lessons will be presented over 1 to 3 days. No planning necessary with lesson plans already developed. See a sample lesson plan for coaches.
MENTOR Mentors provide feedback and work one-on-one with a team of students to help develop their ideas. Typically, mentors meet with their group once a week throughout the school year.
BOARD OF ADVISORS The board of advisors offer student teams strategic evaluation at two events per semester, Minimal Viable Product (MVP) and Final Pitch Days.
Are you interested in volunteering in our program? Please take some time to complete the Volunteer Interest Form to tell us about yourself. You will be added to our list of volunteers and contacted by a member of our staff as a follow up.
We recommend all volunteers understand the methodologies of The Lean Startup by Eric Ries. A great book to read to familiarize yourself prior to working with our students as a volunteer is Running Lean, by Ash Maurya.
